Forty Days To November:
Day 38 - Political Leadership

Benjamin Rush, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, wrote the following in a letter to Thomas Jefferson:
"I have always considered Christianity as the strong ground of republicanism.  The spirit is opposed, not only to the splendor, but even to the very forms of monarchy, and many of its precepts have for their object republican liberty and equality as well as simplicity, integrity and economy in governmet. It is only necessary for republicanism to ally itself to the Christian religion to overturn all the corrupted political and religious institutions in the world."

Patriot's Prayer: Righteous Father, we pray for the men and women in political leadership that they may turn to You when they need to make decisions.  Please move upon the hearts of those who legislate and those who vote for them. May our country turn to You now more wholeheartedly than ever.

Patriot's Promise: Hear his charge to believers that promises when we pray for our leaders, we will have a better life. "I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence."
